Cantor Joanna Alexander completed her cantorial education at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion's School of Sacred Music. She is a graduate of New York University, where she graduated with honors in the Religious Studies Department. Before coming to Temple Rodeph Torah, Cantor Alexander served congregations in New York and Pennsylvania. She serves on the Executive Board of the Hebrew Union College School of Sacred Music Alumni Association, and co-chairs the Outreach to Students Working Group. She sings with the New Jersey Cantors’ Concert Ensemble, which raises money for scholarships for future cantors. Cantor Alexander strives to create balance between old traditions and new innovations, and to inspire people to connect with each other, with the Jewish people and with God.
